Nurturing the Next Generation of Renewable Energy Talent

During Covid-19, 35% of families in Vietnam lost their income. One of the longer term impacts has been an overall decrease in the number of students from disadvantaged backgrounds that are able to attend university. Students are unable to pay for accommodation and transportation, with the rate of unexpected expenses quadrupling during the pandemic.

CI1’s CNGRA solar platform is collaborating with VietSeeds to directly address this issue. By supporting a multi-year university scholarship programme the Project aims to create opportunities that will support the growth of the next generation of renewable energy professionals.

The programme supports students wishing to undertake courses relevant to clean energy science, technology, engineering and mathematics – the so-called STEM subjects. At least 50% of the annual intake must be female students. The programme substantially contributes to the overall costs associated with tuition, equipment, and living away from home. Pastoral support is also provided. The programme are keen to contribute to the nurturing of the next generation of renewable energy talents.

Hoang, now in his second year of the scholarship programme, has gained much more than just financial support for his university fees. He has thrived through the invaluable learning opportunities provided by the VietSeeds community of mentors and peers. So much so in fact, that Hoang fondly regards the VietSeeds community as his second home.
