Amir stamds proudly amidst the restored canal, a testament to the transformative impacts of Ampyr Balenahalli Wind Farm's Community Development Programme at Janenahalli Village
In Janenahalli Village, a once-blocked canal has become a lifeline for the community, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the community development programme funded by Ampyr’s Balenahalli Wind Project and implemented by Myrada. For Amir, a resident of Janenahalli Village, the transformation brought about by the community development programme has been greatly impactful.
Amir shares, “For over 20 years, the canal that ran through our village was blocked". This left farmlands unproductive, with farmers struggling to even grow one crop in a season.
The intervention by Ampyr and Myrada addressed this pressing issue head-on. The blocked canal was cleared, allowing water to flow freely once again.
“Now [with the canal restored], we are able to grow two crops a year,” Amir explains with pride. “This initiative has brought immense benefits to all of us.”
Beyond improving agricultural yields, the water flowing through the canal replenishes the village’s cattle pond, which was revived as part of the same initiative. Amir emphasizes the broader implications, saying, “This water, after irrigating our land, now fills the cattle pond", ensuring their livestock have access to a reliable water source.
This dual benefit of enhanced crop production and support for livestock has created a ripple effect of stability and prosperity within the community. Families can now look forward to more sustainable and resilient livelihoods.
